In my last post, I reminisced (“to indulge in enjoyable recollection of past events”) about a time in the Middle East singing a song with others to the Lord God called:
“There Is None Like You.”
It’s so true, isn’t it? There is no one like the Lord!
Listen to those who wrote such words thousands of years ago:
“Among the (pagan) gods there is none like You, Lord; no deeds can compare with Yours.” (Dawud – David – in The Zabur – the Psalms – chapter 86, verse 8)
“You are great, O Lord God; for there is none like You, and there is no God besides You. . .” (Dawud – David – in the Bible, the first book of Samuel, chapter 7, verse 22)
“There is none like You, O Lord; You are great, and great is Your name in might.” (the Prophet Jeremiah in the Bible, chapter 10, verse 6)
“Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? Indeed it is Your due! For among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is none like You.” (the Prophet Jeremiah in the Bible, chapter 10, verse 7)
Yes, we can say it, shout it, sing it, write it, meditate on it:
“Oh Lord, there is none like You!”
I harken back to that morning in the Middle East when we were singing these words to the Lord:
“There is none like You.
No one else can touch my heart like You do,
I can search for all eternity Lord
And find, there is none like You.
Suddenly, something struck me. Something so simple but so profound. So joyful but so humbling.
The Lord was speaking back to me these (almost identical) words:
“There is none like you.
No one else can touch my heart like you do.
I can search for all eternity, Mark,
And find, there is none like you.”
I believe He is speaking these words to to all of us who truly love Him, worship Him, obey Him.
Would you try something? Just put your name there and listen to the Lord of heaven and earth, the Creator, the One and Only God say to you – yes, you. . .
“Ahmed, Peter, Mahmoud, John, Fatima, Ali, Mary, Miriam, Mohammed, Abdullah, Amani, Donna, Amy, Omar, Falestine. . .there is none like you. No one else can touch my heart like you do, I can search for all eternity and find, there is none like you.”
Can you believe that? Can you hear God say something like that to. . .you?
It’s true you know. You are absolutely unique to Him.
There is no one else – there will never be anyone else – exactly like the you He created.
And there is no one else who can touch His heart like you can either.
So you see, there is none like you.
What love!
What a God to express that love to us, His creation!
May this knowledge prompt us to seek Him, know Him, and love Him in return. . .with all our hearts.
(Important Postscript: having a knowledge of God’s love for us in our uniqueness is wonderful but. . .it will not give any of us a guarantee of eternal life in Paradise. Even our God-given ability to somehow “touch His heart” in this life will not earn us freedom from the hell-fire. No, it is my absolute conviction that we need to receive God’s free gift of salvation through His Messiah – Jesus – to enter Paradise on the Day of Judgment. Only then can we worshipfully say to Him in His presence forever, “Lord, there is none like You!” Only then can we hear Him lovingly say back to us forever, “There is none like you!”)
As a Muslim—I could agree with this if the words “Messiah—Jesus” were changed to (his) “Mercy and Compassion”
Always appreciate your feedback!
This is the most inspiring blog I have ever read! I know that on this side of heaven, we will never know/experience the love of Jesus to the absolute fullest extent. BUT….what if, in reading this blog, we daily request the Holy Spirit to give us His grace so that more and more to KNOW the love of Jesus and fully embrace it? What spiritual and physical healing may also envelop us! And in our great thankfulness, we choose to obey a command of Jesus: “Preach my Word and heal the sick”, what might we encounter? Could it be more and more answers to our centuries old plea?: “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done…on earth as it is in heaven?”
Jo, your words are incredibly encouraging and humbling.
If the blog is good, it is. . .God! As the apostle Paul so wisely wrote as he questioned the Corinthians in the first century:
“What do you have that you did not receive (from God)?” (1 Corinthians 4:7). So. . .who can boast, right?
I can hear in your “voice” a great hunger for the One – for His glory, for His kingdom. This is my hope & prayer for you from the words of Jesus in the Good News of Matthew, chapter 5, verse 6:
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
The bible quotes were interesting. Thankyou.
You are most welcome.
We both believe our books are sacred. Foundational to all we believe.
So. . .it is always good to share/read each other’s verses.
