In the last blog post, I asked the question, “What do you most love about Allah?”
My answer? “His love!”
But. . .there are so many attributes of God, how can you pick just one? So today, I want to add another one:
I love that God promises that He will never leave His people.
My father left my mother, my sister. He left me.
But God promises that He. . .will never. . .ever. . .leave. . .me.
People may leave us. Because they are fallible, they may:
abandon, forsake, desert us. . .
leave us, turn their back on us. . .
cast us aside, leave us stranded. . .
dump us, ditch us, even do away with us. . .
People may:
renounce us. . .
dispense with us, disown us. . .
disavow, discard, drop, wash their hands of us. . .
People may. . .walk out on us. . .
But not. . .God.
This – to me – is the greatest promise I have from God:
* “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (the Prophet Musa – Moses – to the people; in the Tawrat, Deuteronomy 31:6)
* “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (the Prophet Musa – Moses – to the people; in the Tawrat, Deuteronomy 31:8)
“. . .God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?'” (to the Hebrews, chapter 13, verses 5-6)
I really like a paraphrase of one of these verses:
“. . .God assured us, ‘I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you. . .'” (Hebrews 13:5, The Message)
This one too is especially powerful:
“. . .He (God) Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down (relax My hold on you)! Assuredly not!” (Hebrews 13:5, Amplified)
He never lets go. Through the calm and through the storm. He never lets go. In every high and every low. He never lets go of me.
My God. . .is. . .always. . .with me. Amazing. Wonderful. Beyond comprehension.
“What do you most love about Allah?”
I love that God promises that He will never leave His people.
God promises that He. . .will never. . .ever. . .leave. . .me.
Quran Surah 93 — Morning hours
In the name of God the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
By the morning hours
By the night when it is still
Your Lord has not abandoned you
And does not hate you
What is after will be betterTthan what came before
To you the Lord will be giving
You will be content
Did he not find you orphaned and give you shelter
Find you lost and guide you
Find you in hunger and and provide for you
As for the orphan
Do not oppress him
And one who asks do not turn away
And the Grace of your Lord proclaim.
Thanks so much for sharing this. . .
My Friend, I like the phrases, “Your Lord has not abandoned you” and also “Did he not find you orphaned and give you shelter. Find you lost and guide you, find you in hunger and and provide for you.” Beautiful.
But again, what about you personally? Is that what you love the most about Allah – that He will not abandon you?
