Dear Muslim friends,
What do you most love about Allah?
I try to build bridges between Muslims and Christians. One problem between us is that we so often focus on our differences. Another barrier between us is that we too often speak to each other “head to head” instead of “heart to heart.” I’m not against intellectual discussions but it does seem like they can lead to argument and debate. Winners. . .and losers.
I think Muslims and Christians need to ask each other “heart” questions. This connects us. This builds bridges instead of walls. This can create something beautiful between us: relationship and even genuine friendship.
This post is asking a “heart” question for all of us: “What do you most love about Allah?”
For me, when I think about God, the thought that is deepest and the strongest is that. . .He loves us.
What do I most love about God? Simply put, His love.
His love. . .
infinite. . .unconditional. . .strong. . .
enormous. . .everlasting. . .certain. . .
vast. . .steadfast. . .trustworthy. . .
limitless. . .loyal. . .unfailing.
Why? Why, oh why, would God love a sinner like me? Like any of us?
I don’t know why He loves us. No, I take that back. I do know why He loves us. Because it is His character. It is who He is. It is inherent in His great being.
Yes, this I know, that God is love and that God loves us. His love never fails. It never gives up. It never runs out.
Even a child can receive the free gift of this love that leads to life.
