Dear Muslim and Christian friends,

Certainly those of you who are Muslims know what it is to “bow down” in prayer and worship of God. But did you know that people from the Jewish and Christian faiths are also called to “bow down”? In the Zabur – the Psalms – we read these words:

psalm95_6-7.jpg come let us worship, bow down

In the 3 monotheistic faiths, we are called to bow down to God. But, who is the God you bow down to?

This is a hugely important question. Think of this quote:

When you bow down, what kind of thoughts do you have about God? Who is He to you? What is He like?

I try to read from the Zabur – the Psalms – every day. There are so many verses about who God is. What He is like. I could refer to so many but today I just want to mention one written by the prophet Dawood – King David – from Psalm 56:9:

In your thinking, is God for you or. . .against you?

Is God for you only when you pray regularly?
What about when you don’t?

Is God for you only when you fast?
What about when you don’t?

Is God for you only when you give?
What about when you don’t?

Is God for you only when you keep all the rules?
Is God for you only when you do good?

What about when you don’t?

I don’t know about you, but I can never pray enough, fast enough, give enough, keep enough rules, or be good enough to earn God’s love.

God loves me because of who He is, not because of who I am or because of what I do. . .or don’t do.

God. . .is for me. . .all the time!

It’s mind boggling.

This. . .is the glorious and gracious and good God that I bow down to today.

What about you?
