Last month it was our privilege to be in the wonderful country of Jordan.
While there, we traveled to the extreme northwest part of that great country where we could see Palestine and. . .Syria.
It has been our great honor and privilege to help a tiny bit with Syrian refugees in Jordan on trips there since 2012. These people have suffered so greatly since the civil war began in Syria in March, 2011.
Our hearts break for the Syrian people as year after year we sit with them and hear their stories of terrible violence and the imprisonment and death of loved ones.
These people we speak with have often lost everything in their efforts to reach Jordan, Lebanon, and other countries.
But God loves these suffering Syrian people and has compassion for them.
And so. . .we pray for them. . .
May God bring freedom, justice, and healing to the people of Syria.
Matthew 4:24 ESV – So his (Jesus) fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them.
Isaiah 1:17 ESV – Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.
Proverbs 21:15 ESV – When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.
Micah 6:8 ESV – He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Isaiah 61:8 ESV – For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong. . .
Jeremiah 22:3 ESV – Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.
Psalm 82:3 ESV – Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
Proverbs 18:5 ESV – It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the righteous of justice.
Proverbs 31:9 ESV – Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Zechariah 7:9-10 ESV – Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.
