Dear Muslim friends,

On this major American holiday – Independence Day, the 4th of July – many American people are celebrating their freedom.

I know many refugees from Afghanistan, and they are so happy to have a multitude of new freedoms here!

But. . .I wonder. . .how many Muslim people really feel welcome in the USA?

Do you?

I did a video recently in front of a beautiful mosque in Dearborn, Michigan to challenge Christian people to welcome Muslim immigrants, refugees, and international students.  I thought some of you might be interested to see it as Muslim people.  Please let me know what you think.

Here is the video and the YouTube message description below.

Happy Independence Day, my Muslim friends, and God bless you!

Hey Christians: Are You Welcoming Muslim Immigrants, Refugees, and International Students to Your Community?

Muslims are coming to the US – to small towns and big cities. Are you welcoming them? Loving them as our Savior, Jesus, commanded?

Our Bible speaks of the importance of this over and over!

Here are a few verses for us to obey about loving for our immigrant or refugee neighbors:

Exodus 22:21 – “Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners.”
Deuteronomy 10:19 – “You are to love those who are foreigners.”
Leviticus 19:33-34 – “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”
Leviticus 24:22 – “You are to have the same law for the foreigner and the native-born. I am the LORD your God.”
Jeremiah 7:5-6 – “Deal with each other justly, do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm.”
Zechariah 7:9-10 – “This is what the LORD Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor.'”
Malachi 3:5 – “So I will come to put you on trial. I will be quick to testify against those. . .who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive the foreigners among you of justice” says the LORD Almighty.
Hebrews 13:2 – “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers. . .”
Romans 15:7 – “Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”
Matthew 25:35 – “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.”

Dear Christians, let’s not be like Jonah who ran away. . .and hated.

Let’s be like Jesus who welcomed people to himself – people of all kinds, people from all places.

Then, let’s share his glorious gospel out of that same love.
