Dear Muslim friends,
I was so blessed to be in one of my favorite places in the world – Amman, Jordan – not long ago!
I preached there in a church with a dear friend who translated for me. I asked the people in the church about their value. About their worth.
Dear Muslim friends, how can you know what your value and worth is?
So many of us get our value and worth from what people tell us, especially what our parents told us when we were very young.
Sadly, some people heard their fathers tell them that they are worthless. Or that they will never amount to anything. Or that they are ashamed of them. And so they go through life remembering those terrible, painful words.
But we need to hear the truth about our value. About our worth.
So I preached about what God says in the Injeel about our worth and value. I used the little book in the Bible of 1 Peter.
And this was one of my key verses tonight :
“For you know that God paid a ransom to save you
from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors.
And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value.
It was the precious blood of Christ,
the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.”
(1 Peter 1:18-19 NLT)
God paid an incredible price to save people from their sins. It wasn’t with any form of money or gold or silver or jewels. It was with something far more valuable – the blood of Jesus on the cross.
That’s how God values people. That is what they are worth.
We are not worth much in ourselves, but if we find our worth in what Jesus did for us, it will change everything. It will change how we see God, ourselves, and the world around us.
Dear Muslim friends, if you have never put your faith in Jesus Christ and what he did for you on the cross, I pray that today will be your day!
Only then can you know what you are truly worth – what your true value is. . .to God!
